Club News
Dear Member,
Firstly, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for a great season and hope the 2009/10 season will be just as good, if not better. Maureen, Lora and I have had great fun running the league again this year, and are more than happy to continue doing so. However, if anyone else would like to have a go please let one of us know.
As some of you may be aware The Beachcomber (for reasons best known to them) are no longer sponsoring our league (aaaaawwwwww), so for this year we have our new sponsors S.M.P. (Shadow Magic Productions). The sponsorship does not include a multi million pound deal but it does mean that all of the printing, artwork and admin are taken care of with no extra charge to you lucky bowlers.
As part of the new sponsorship the league now has its very own website where you can check out the league stats, knockout dates, player information and loads of other twiddly bits. The site should be up and running in a couple of weeks time. The address is
www.smpbowling.moonfruit.com
There will also be some new trophies and awards up for grabs this season such as Players Player, Captains Knockout, Golden Balls and a few other surprises later in the season plus all of the current knockouts and competitions already in place.
The individual Knockouts ( Gents, Ladies & Mixed ) will start on the 1st June 2009 with the top 64 bowlers qualifying for the tournaments. The Team Knockouts will start on the 4th January 2010 with the top 8 teams qualifying for the tournament. This seasons fixtures, results, rules, photos and league information will be updated weekly on the new website to give you easy access to the information. For those who do not have internet access, printed copies can be made available on request.
One other change for this season is that team “Bubbles” has changed their name to “Chocco-Latte”.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Derek Williamson for all of his help at the presentation evening on Saturday night. Thank you.
The 2009/10 Presentation Evening will be on Saturday the 20th March 2010. If you have any ideas as to the theme of the evening or what type of entertainment you would like to see please let us know. We will keep you posted as we receive your feedback.
We sincerely hope you all have a great season & I look forward to sleeping with you soon.
Yours Sincerely
Steven Greenwood
League Secretary
